Day-by-day itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival & Highlands (tortoises, lava tunnels)
PM: Begin your journey on Santa Cruz Island with a transfer from Baltra Airport to the island’s lush highlands. On the way, visit one of the traditional giant tortoise ranches, where you’ll enjoy your first close encounter with the iconic Galapagos giant tortoises roaming freely in their natural habitat. Stroll through green pastures and observe these ancient creatures up close in a peaceful setting.
Continue the experience by exploring impressive volcanic lava tunnels, fascinating geological formations created by past volcanic activity that shaped the Galapagos Islands. After the visit, continue with a transfer to Puerto Ayora, where you’ll check in at your hotel and enjoy a free afternoon at leisure to relax or explore the town on your own.

DAY 2: Tortuga Bay + Darwin Station
AM: Begin the day with a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station, one of the most important conservation centers in the Galápagos Islands. Learn about ongoing scientific research and preservation programs, visit the giant tortoise breeding center, and gain insight into the efforts dedicated to protecting the islands’ unique ecosystems and endemic species.
PM: In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic walk to Tortuga Bay, widely considered one of the most beautiful white-sand beaches in the Galápagos. Relax on the beach, swim in calm waters, or spot local wildlife such as marine iguanas, shorebirds, and vibrant Sally Lightfoot crabs along the shore. Return to Puerto Ayora after a memorable day immersed in nature and conservation.

DAY 3: Snorkeling at local sites (Playa de la Estación or Las Grietas)
Today is dedicated to exploring the underwater world around Santa Cruz Island, offering a relaxed yet memorable snorkeling experience. Depending on sea and weather conditions, travelers may choose between two excellent local sites: Playa de la Estación, located near the Charles Darwin Research Station, or Las Grietas, a unique volcanic channel filled with crystal-clear emerald water.
Both snorkeling sites are known for their calm conditions and rich marine biodiversity. While snorkeling, you may encounter tropical fish, rays, sea turtles, starfish, and playful sea lions, along with fascinating underwater volcanic formations. The protected waters make this activity suitable for beginners and experienced snorkelers alike, with plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings at a comfortable pace.
After the snorkeling activity, enjoy a free afternoon in Puerto Ayora, where you can explore local shops, relax at a café, or choose from optional excursions such as a bay tour or additional beach visits.

DAY 4: Garrapatero Beach
AM:Garrapatero Beach is a stunning and secluded beach on Santa Cruz Island, prized for its powdery white sand, turquoise waters, and untouched natural setting. Located about 30–40 minutes from Puerto Ayora, this beach offers a quieter alternative to the island’s more popular spots, making it ideal for travelers seeking relaxation and scenic beauty.
The beach features two distinct swimming areas: one with gentle, calm waters perfect for swimming and another with stronger waves that attract surfers when conditions allow. Just inland, a coastal lagoon provides a unique ecosystem where flamingos and other migratory birds can sometimes be seen, especially during the rainy season.
Surrounded by volcanic landscapes and native vegetation, Garrapatero Beach is also a great place to enjoy sunbathing, beach walks, photography, and wildlife observation. Facilities are limited, preserving its natural feel, so visitors are encouraged to bring water, sun protection, and snacks. This beach is an excellent addition to any Santa Cruz itinerary, combining tranquility, biodiversity, and dramatic coastal scenery.
PM: Free Afternoon

Day 5: Departure - Backt to Home
After breakfast, enjoy a transfer from your hotel in Puerto Ayora to Baltra Airport, crossing the scenic highlands of Santa Cruz Island in the Galápagos Islands. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or a short stroll before departure. Say goodbye to the Galápagos Islands, taking home unforgettable memories of their unique wildlife, pristine landscapes, and conservation-focused experiences.

“My partner and I took an incredible trip through Ecuador that combined culture, nature, and adventure both on the mainland and in the Galápagos Islands. Everything was perfectly organized and exceeded our expectations every step of the way. Once in Galápagos, we joined a 5-day tour through Santa Cruz, Isabela, and Santa Fe, and it was simply magical”

“Pedro was a fantastic tour guide. I’d highly recommend booking this tour, it’s a combo of shared tours with a guide and a private tour. What’s even better is he acts as your have your own personal photographer and if you have dietary requirements this is perfect, since we don’t know the language Pedro handled everything.”

From the moment we arrived, everything felt easy and smooth. But what I really loved is that it didn’t feel like a structured tour. It felt more like traveling with friends, where someone else had already taken care of all the details. We just showed up, enjoyed, and lived in the moment.”

The water in the Galápagos Islands is so clear it almost feels unreal, and snorkeling there was simply incredible. Everything feels so pure and natural… you truly connect with the place.
I love penguins, and I really wanted to see them but I also knew it’s not always easy. And just when I wasn’t expecting it anymore, they appeared.”
